1. Overview

TankRate (“the app”) is a free Android calculator published by Stronghealth. It works out how much product to put in your spray tank from the rate on the label. There is no account, no sign-up and no server of ours, and the calculation itself never touches the network. The only component that uses the network is the Google AdMob advertising SDK.

2. What stays on your device

The app writes five things to your phone’s local app storage: your sprayers (tank size and units), your products (name, rate and unit), your recent mixes, which sprayer was last selected, and the bookkeeping that limits how often ads appear. Nothing else is stored.

We never receive any of it. We do not operate a server or a database that holds user data, and we do not know who you are, what you spray, or where.

One thing worth being exact about: the app leaves Android’s own backup enabled, so the sprayers and products you set up are not lost when you change phone. That means Android may copy this local data to your Google account and restore it on a new device. That backup is between you and Google — it is controlled by your Google account settings and we never see it. Uninstalling the app removes the data from the device; the backup copy lives in your Google account, where you can delete it, and reinstalling the app may restore it. Turning backup off in Android’s settings stops further backups; it does not delete a copy that has already been made.

3. Advertising

The app shows advertising supplied by Google AdMob. To serve and measure those ads, the AdMob SDK collects and shares your device’s advertising ID and other device identifiers. This happens inside Google’s SDK; we never see the data and we do not combine it with anything else. Google’s handling of it is described in the Google Privacy & Terms. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android under Settings → Privacy → Ads.

For transparency, this is the whole of it. There are three places an ad can appear:

• One banner, on the screens where you are setting things up — never on the result screen or the calibration screen, because those are where you read numbers you are about to act on.
• One full-screen ad when you open the app, at most once per calendar day, and never on the day you install it. This one can appear before you have done anything.
• Up to two full-screen ads when you leave a result, per calendar day — never on the day you install the app, never before you have worked out two mixes in that session, and never within three minutes of another one of these.

So on a heavy day the maximum is three full-screen ads: one at open and two on the way out of a result. The three-minute spacing applies between the leaving-a-result ads; it is not shared with the one at open.

4. Permissions

The app never asks you for a permission. Not your location, camera, microphone, contacts, photos or files — there is no permission dialog anywhere in it.

The entries in the app’s manifest come from the Android and advertising libraries it is built with, and none of them is a permission Android asks you to grant: INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE (used only by the ad SDK), VIBRATE, WAKE_LOCK, FOREGROUND_SERVICE, and the Google advertising entries AD_ID and ACCESS_ADSERVICES_*, plus one internal AndroidX entry scoped to this app alone. The storage and “display over other apps” entries that ship with the default Android build template have been removed from this app.

5. What this app is not

TankRate is an arithmetic tool. It does not carry a database of products, labels or legal rates, and it does not tell you what to spray or whether you may spray it. The product label is the legal authority, and the app says so on screen. Always read and follow it, including its restrictions, protective equipment and mixing order.

6. Children

The app is a work tool for adults applying agricultural or turf products. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect any information from children.
