1. Overview

Dictation Notes: Voice to Text ("the App") is a free Android speech-to-text notepad. You tap the microphone, speak, and your words are turned into text notes that are saved on your device. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the App.

2. Information We Collect

The App does not collect, store, or transmit your notes or personal information to our servers. It has no user accounts and no sign-up. Your notes are stored only on your device (in a local database) and never leave it. There is no server-side communication other than speech recognition (Section 3) and loading advertisements (Section 4).

3. Microphone & Speech Recognition

When you start dictation, the App uses your device's built-in speech-recognition service (provided by Google on most Android devices) to convert your speech to text. Depending on your device and settings:

• Standard (network) recognition — your microphone audio is sent to the device's speech-recognition service (Google) to be transcribed, subject to the Google Privacy Policy. The App itself does not record, keep, or upload the audio; it only receives the transcribed text.
• On-device recognition (used when you enable the optional "Auto punctuation" setting on Android 13+) — recognition runs locally and the audio does not leave your device.

The App requests the microphone (RECORD_AUDIO) permission only for this purpose, and only when you first start dictation. The App does not record audio to files.

4. Third-Party Services

• Google AdMob — for advertisements. The App shows a banner on the note-list screen, an app-open ad on a normal launch, and an occasional full-screen ad at natural transition points (such as saving a note). It shows no advertisements at all while you are dictating or editing a note. AdMob may collect device identifiers (such as Advertising ID) and usage data to serve personalized or non-personalized ads. See the Google Privacy Policy.

5. Permissions

The App requests only what it needs:

• Microphone — to transcribe your speech to text (Section 3).
• Internet — for standard speech recognition and to load ads.
• Keep screen on — so the screen stays awake while you dictate.

The App does not use or request access to your location, contacts, camera, photos, files, or physical-activity sensors.

6. Data Storage

The App does not create user accounts and does not sync any data to the cloud. All your notes stay on your device, including notes in the Trash until you delete them. Uninstalling the App removes your local data and any cached AdMob data stored on the device.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is suitable for general audiences and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
