1. Overview

Wine Journal is a free Android app developed by Pando Roots. It records your wine tastings, ratings, notes, wishlist and cellar counts. No account or subscription is required. The journal tools work offline; advertising, analytics, feedback and privacy links use network services.

2. Your journal and settings

Wine names, wineries, grape varieties, regions, vintages, prices, tasting profiles, notes, ratings and cellar counts are stored locally on your device. We do not operate a server that receives these records, and we do not send their contents as custom analytics events. Language selection and advertisement timing settings are also saved locally.

3. Advertising and analytics

The app uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK for a banner, advertisements at natural breaks after saving and occasional app-open advertisements. Google may process device identifiers including Advertising ID, approximate location inferred from network information, app interactions, diagnostics and performance information. We request non-personalized ads; this does not mean no information is processed. Where required, Google's consent form appears before requesting ads. The Privacy choices entry in Settings lets you reopen the form when available.

Google Firebase Analytics measures aggregate app usage. Its default events may include app interactions, device information, identifiers and diagnostic information. Your wine names, tasting notes and ratings are not included as custom analytics data. See Google's Privacy Policy and Firebase Privacy and Security documentation.

4. Optional feedback through Tally

Send feedback opens a Tally form in your browser. A matching language form is available for each of the app's 17 languages. The link supplies optional app identifier, app name, app version, build number, platform, device manufacturer/model, OS name/version, selected language and source screen. These fields contain no advertising identifier or unique device identifier. Your wine records are not included.

The form collects only what you choose to submit, such as feedback type, message and an optional reply email. Missing diagnostic fields are accepted. Tally and its hosting services may process browser and network information under Tally's Privacy Policy. Opening the form does not submit your feedback automatically.

5. Retention and deletion

You can delete individual tastings in the app. Clearing app storage or uninstalling removes local records and settings. Android backup is enabled, so device data may be included in your Google account backup according to your backup settings. Uninstalling does not delete that backup, and reinstalling may restore data. Manage or delete backups through Android or your Google account.

We retain submitted feedback for up to 24 months unless a longer period is required to resolve a request or comply with law. Request deletion or ask a privacy question through the Tally feedback form, identifying the submission without unnecessary personal information. We normally respond within 30 days after locating and verifying the request. This does not delete information independently processed by Google; use Google account controls for those services.

6. Permissions and security

The app uses internet access for advertising, analytics and browser links. It does not request camera, microphone, contacts, precise location or external storage access. Network services use encrypted connections. No user account is created.

7. Age and children

The app is intended for adults of legal drinking age and is not directed at children under 13. It records your own notes; it does not sell alcohol or encourage excessive drinking. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes and contact

Updates to this policy appear here with a new revision date. Questions and privacy requests can be sent through the Tally feedback form.
